There are few residential treatment facilities with as much experience as the Provo Canyon School. For over 35 years, the Provo Canyon School has helped over 5000 children and families. For many families and students this was the last step after exhausting a number of different resources.
Provo Canyon's approach to working with students is firm but compassionate. The school provides a level of structure and safety that allows students to begin to look at their issues and access help at the same time. Students are encouraged to look at the issues which brought them to the school and work towards finding new and healthier ways of coping in the world. Provo Canyon creates a space for students to make their world feel smaller so that their main focus can become working on themselves and the relationship they have with their family.
Provo Canyon eliminates and/or minimizes many of the everyday distractions that can lead to a student having issues such as:
Inappropriate television, music, movies, and pop culture
Gambling
Access to substances
Negative peer relationships
Video games
Online activites such as gaming, chat rooms and inappropriate websites
Pornography
Gang related activities
In return we provide a variety of healthier living options for our students such as:
Recreational therapy with a full ropes course, climbing wall and access to a yurt located in the heart of the canyons
Outdoor activities such as rock climbing, canoeing, hiking, skiing, backpacking, snowshoeing, biking, and yoga
Peer relationships free of competition, bullying, or superficiality
Balanced meals with a minimal amount of refined sugar, trans fat and other harsh processing agents
Art, music and dance as an opportunity to express themselves
